November 21, 2023

Des Plaines, IL

Dr. Pedro Ortiz-Toral, Program Director of Bioenergy at GTI Energy, accepted the award for Best Presentation at the World LPG Forum’s inaugural Global Science Conference in Rome during LPG Week on November 17, 2023. The paper on Cool LPG was jointly authored by a team of GTI Energy experts, including Patrick Littlewood, Terry Marker, Michael Bradford, John Whitehouse, Megan Herrera, Darryl Hino, and Pedro Ortiz-Toral.

The Global Science Conference at LPG Week is devoted exclusively to scientific developments related to production technologies and pathways of renewable, recycled, and sustainable liquid gases most relevant to the LPG industry. The World Liquid Gas Association Global Science Committee recognized Ortiz-Toral’s talk on GTI Energy’s Cool LPG technology as the best overall presentation of a technology with the most promise and potential to decarbonize the LPG industry. His presentation was unique in that it highlighted the technical accomplishments of GTI Energy’s Cool LPG technology in expertly navigating the challenges that other research groups identified in producing renewable LPG but had not yet been successful in solving. He also defined the rising needs for renewable LPG in both the Global North as well as in the Global South, underlining the widespread potential use of renewably sourced LPG.

GTI Energy’s Cool LPG Technology converts biogas or bio-syngas into renewably sourced, green bioLPG, a 100% renewable fuel used for cooking, heating and transportation.

GTI Energy partner BioLPG LLC and the rest of their collaborating parties continue to move forward into preparation for the first phase of demonstration plants, utilizing Cool LPG, with the goal of large-scale commercial production of renewable LPG in coming years.

In 2021, BioLPG LLC and its UN-backed NGO affiliate, The Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP) received an exclusive global license from GTI Energy to bring the Cool LPG technology to market.
